MICHAEL PRAED
Michael Praed was born in Cornwall in 1941. After his formal education Michael Praed studied at Penzance and Falmouth Schools of Art leaving Cornwall in 1964 to train at Brighton College of Art. Michael Praed returned in 1965 to paint and to teach. Since the mid-sixties he has been a member of both the Newlyn and the Penwith Societies of Artists. Michael Praed has taken part in numerous solo and mixed exhibitions.
One of Cornwall's foremost contemporary artists, Michael Praed is a prolific painter in oils, gouache and pastel. Michael Praed's distinctive style portrays his understanding of West Penwith and its people in strong uncluttered lines, producing an emotive combination of realism and abstraction. Harbour walls, boats and fishermen appear as timeless as the landscape and the sea.
