NOEL BETOWSKI

Born of Polish and Irish descent in 1952 in London, Noel Betowski grew up in the immediate vicinity of the docks at Tilbury in Essex.  The sights and sounds of world cultures and journeys absorbed from these early experiences can be clearly seen to have influenced Noel Betowski's work. 

Now living in Cornwall, with its long coastline, for Noel Betowski the ship/boat motif has become the subject of a symbolic significance in terms of travel, journeys and emigration.  Within this are the rhythms of worldwide music that fascinate and inspire him, both as listener and performer.

Noel Betowski left the Central School of Art in London with a BA in Fine Art, he first visited Cornwall in 1975.  Over a period of time he continually returned to spend months each year painting in the area near St. Just until finally, in 1987, he and his family moved to West Cornwall. 

Noel Betowski's work is held in private collections throughout Europe and North America and is shown by notable London, local and national galleries.
