I am Norwegian by birth and I have been interested in the world of creativity practically all my life, both as an artist and also because of its recreational and therapeutic benefits.
Some of my cherished childhood memories while growing up in Norway include constructing igloos and sculptures from ice and snow as well as my first watercolour painting of a thunderous evening sky. I was enthralled and totally absorbed in the process.
In 2004 I gained a diploma in Art Therapy (BA) from TobiasSchool of Art & Therapy, East Grinstead, East Sussex. The studies were based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner.
Apart from this I am largely self-taught and before moving to Cornwall in 2007 (having visited it frequently throughout my life) I spent several years living and working both in France and Spain. This period of time proved invaluable and I have a deep affection for both countries.
It is this long held fascination of mine in the interconnectedness and mirror reflection between the human being and nature. For me this brings a true sense of awe and wonder. Why? Because one realizes that the journey is never ending as there is always something beckoning, near or far waiting to be explored.
I experience it very much as a living dialogue between several realms of existence, this mysterious space filled with the ever-flowing stream of sense phenomena. It is the multi layered world of The Elements with its transformative powers – forceful and dramatic as well as gentle and harmonious.
Through my work I seek entry into this space of immense creativity. It is a very intuitive work process. Through ongoing observations and reflections on what I see and feel in the outer world, my inspiration sparks off in the form of inner pictures and images.
These form the foundation from which the artistic process begins and this journey is most of the time accompanied by music in a variety of forms.
With its transcendental power it breaks down barriers, open up doors and can lead me into a space of extraordinary inspiration.
