SIMON RICH

Simon Rich was born in March 1949.  At sixteen years old, he was apprenticed to Alan Caiger-Smith of the Aldermaston Pottery where he trained for four years before starting his own workshop in Tisbury, Wiltshire.  In 1972 Simon Rich moved to Narbeth in Pembrokeshire and started up a pottery and retail outlet there.

Over the years Simon Rich has supplied top London departmental stores as well as several leading galleries.  He has had numerous exhibitions and is a member of the Maker's Guild of Wales.  His work has also been shown in the museums of Swansea and Bristol as well as the Musee Nationale de Ceramique in Paris.

For the past few years Simon Rich has been concentrating on producing fumed copper raku pieces.  He also combines fumed copper with terrasigilata using African bush fire techniques and has resumed his work with crystal glazes.

Simon Rich aims, through constant innovation, experimentation and the perfecting of techniques and forms, to create works of outstanding quality and beauty.
